Memoirs of Jan Hauer
Jan Hauer’s memoirs, a collection of family photographs and archival documents compiled into a book.
Kateřina Čapková and Helena Sadílková began recording interviews with Jan Hauer in 2019, which were gradually supplemented by Jan Hauer’s written memoirs. The editorial team was completed in 2021 by Renata Berkyová.
Over time, through research into the fates of individual family members and a deepening relationship with the descendant of the survivors and his family, three parts of the manuscript crystallized:
A narrative composed of interviews and Jan Hauer’s manuscript, which was compiled by Helena Sadílková.
Family photographs comprising more than 100 images documenting the life of the family members since the beginning of the 20th century, prepared by Renata Berkyová.
Archival documents documenting the life of the extended Hauer family in the pre-war and especially the war period, prepared by Kateřina Čapková
No special grant from Bader Philanthropies was given for this book project, but the Bader Philanthropies Foundation made its launch possible.
